Victim of Fiery Crash Pulled to Safety by Fresno Deputy — Jun 14, 2017

Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy Andrew Simonson jumped from his car to pull a victim caught in a burning car in Fresno. Sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries later. It was approximately 9 a.m. when Deputy Simonson was travelling on Highway 180 on his way to work at the Fresno County Courthouse. He was driving behind a semi-truck, close to Fowler Avenue, as a Ford Explorer came from the opposite direction and hit the semi. The Ford erupted into flames, the driver, unconscious, was trapped inside. Simonson used pruning shears from a bystander’s vehicle to cut the man from his seatbelt and began life saving measures. He was transported to an area hospital but died later.
