Train Destroys CHP Car Near Sacramento — Dec 10, 2016

A California Highway Patrol officer was nearly killed Saturday near Sacramento when his patrol car was demolished by a train. He had been responding to two separate accidents when he parked his car between a railroad crossing arm and the tracks. A train appeared on the tracks and totaled the patrol car when it made contact. Fortunately, the officer was out of the vehicle when it was hit. A spokesperson from CHP announced that the officer was at fault, as no one should park inside the rail arms. As of yet, however, no disciplinary actions have been taken.
