Teen Killed in Saratoga Car Accident- August 3, 2016

A car accident on August 3rd has been attributed to a 29-year-old San Leandro man, Alex Eduardo Antunez Garcia, who was arrested last Thursday. The accident sent a car off the cliff at state highway 9 outside Saratoga, killing a 19-year-old woman. Another teen was left with major injuries. 

Garcia was accused of fleeing the scene. He was arrested and charged with suspicion of felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter and being an unlicensed driver. The accident occurred near 1 am on the highway west of Redwood Gulch Road. Wen emergency crews responded, they found a 19-year-old female dead from her injuries and a pregnant 15-year-old girl severely injured. The driver of the car, Garcia, had lost control and caused the accident to occur and then fled the scene. Authorities eventually found him and he turned himself in.
