Teen Killed in Fiery Highway 9 Crash — Nov 16, 2016

Justin Quintos, 16, of Cupertino, was killed in a car crash in Highway 9 east of Saratoga. He lost control of his car while driving downhill on Highway 9 southbound close to Sanborn Road at approximately 3:20 p.m. He went off the road and plunged down a 50-foot embankment. It was then that his car, a Subaru, hit a tree and caught fire. Quintos was trapped inside and engulfed in flames. He had two passengers, 17-year-old boys from Fremont and Santa Clara, who were able to escape the vehicle. They walked up the embankment and were spotted by Santa Clara park rangers. Drugs and alcohol did not play a part in the wreck, but according to the survivors, the Quintos had been speeding down the winding road.
