San Jose Woman Arrested After Fatal Los Gatos Highway 17 Crash — August 23, 2017

Gabriella Fregoso, 50, of San Jose, was driving with her male passenger on north Highway 17 close to Lexington Reservoir at approximately 1 a.m. when she lost control of her Ford escape. She veered off the road, smashed into several trees, and fell 300 feet down a steep embankment. The male passenger was thrown from the car. He died on the scene. Fregoso was arrested for suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. A police officer, Ross Lee, was also hurt in the accident. The deceased name has not yet been released pending family notification.
