San Jose Man Dies in I-680 Crash -- Nov 13, 2017

A deadly crash that occurred Saturday night on I-680 northbound is still being investigated by California Highway Patrol. The accident occurred at approximately 10:28 p.m. when a 1996 white Honda Civic swerved onto the right shoulder of the road and crashed into a power pole at the Jackson Avenue exit.  He tumbled down the embankment as the power pole fell to the ground. The civic smashed into a towering pine tree on the way down. The air bags were deployed. The male driver was the only person in the car. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injury but died just before 11:30 p.m. He may not have been wearing a seatbelt. It is not clear if drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident.
