Rancho Cordova Schoolgirl Killed by Car — June 13, 2017

A 12-year-old schoolgirl from Rancho Cordova was killed on her way to school Tuesday morning when she was struck by a car. She has been identified by the county coroner as Leah Callison. The accident happened around 6:40 in the morning at the intersection of El Manto Drive and Coloma Road. Local residents have complained the roadway is dangerous and vehicles are often going in excess of 80 mph. The girl was hit in the intersection and life saving measures were began but she was pronounced dead later at the hospital. The drive who hit her was going eastbound and stayed on the scene to cooperate. The girl had been on her way to the local high school for a summer class.
