One Killed in Head-on Crash in Oroville — Sep 13, 2017
A head-on crash Tuesday killed a man at the intersection of Highway 162 and Kelly Ridge Road in East Oroville. His name has not been released. The accident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. A male driving a Volkswagen Beetle westbound near Lakeside Market and Gas was hit by a woman in a Jeep Cherokee making a left turn. The two cars hit head-on, killing the man in the Volkswagen. The woman suffered minor injuries. There was a small child strapped in a car seat in her jeep who was uninjured. The woman claimed she turned under a protected green light but witnesses recall her turning on a red light. Investigators are at work determining if drugs and alcohol were an issue in the accident. No arrests were immediately made.
