One Killed and Children Injured in Coulterville DUI Crash — Oct 18, 2017

A five-year-old child and the driver of the car he was riding in were both ejected from the minivan they were riding in when it flipped over in a crash west of Coulterville. DUI is suspected. Sarah Nicole Cahoon, 28, was driving and died in the accident. Five-year-old, Michael Boesen was thrown almost 50-feet away from the Mazda MVP minivan. He was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment of major injuries.  A 9-year-old child, Jasmin Povio, was also in the minivan. She suffered a minor injury and was also taken for medical care. Cahoon had been driving at an undetermined speed eastbound on Highway 132, just west of Piney Creek Road at approximately 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, when she drifted onto the right side shoulder, up the embankment and then flipped several times back onto the road. The driver was ejected and then ran over by the van. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Five-year-old Michael was also not wearing a seatbelt. Jasmin did have a seatbelt on. Autopsy results will tell if alcohol played a part in the accident.
