Oakland Road Worker Killed by Drunk Driver on I-580 West, Near the Lakeshore Exit

September roads were deadly in Oakland when a road worker was killed by a drunk driver. Near the Lake Merritt area, on Interstate 580 west, a few miles from the Lakeshore exit, Rodriguez Delacruz, of Oakland was working on repairing a portion of the freeway. The California Highway Patrol stated the drunk driver careened off a wall into the construction zone, shortly after midnight.  Rodriguez Delacruz was hit and thrown almost 100 feet. He died at the scene. The drunk driver was uninjured.
