Mysterious Death of Man in Merced County Ravine- August 28, 2016

Investigations are underway to determine how a man and his car ended up at the bottom of a 30-foot ravine in Merced County on Saturday the 26th. Just north of Winton, at Shaffer and Oakdale roads, passers-by happened upon the accident scene. According to the California Highway Patrol, evidence shows the man was taking a curve and smashed into a tree. He seems to have been ejected from the car, which came down the ravine after he landed in the dried creek bed. No word yet if drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident.
