Multi-Car Wreck in El Cerrito Injures Man — Mar 26, 2017

A multi-car crash in El Cerrito caused portions of San Pablo Avenue to close down last Sunday. It appears reckless driving may be the culprit. Initial reports of a vehicle hitting a person came in and when police responded they found a man lying in the street. Three vehicles were stopped in the northbound lane of San Pablo and the man was laying in the southbound lane. Investigators were able to determine the man had been thrown from one of the vehicles. He was transported to an area hospital where it was found he had several bones broken. The 20-year-old-man who was driving the car the man was ejected from was arrested for driving under the influence. Witnesses reported the man who was injured had been sitting atop the car with his legs through the sunroof when the driver began swinging wildly from one side of the road to the other. The driver did a U-turn and hit another car on the road. That car then spun and hit a minivan.
