Motorhome Hits Mariposa Mans Car and Kills Him — May 23, 2017

A 31-year-old Mariposa man was killed when a motorhome hit it head-on. The accident occurred near the Chase Ranch on Highway 101 in Mariposa County. According to the California Highway Patrol, Illinois resident, 62-year-old Dale Giantomasso driving his 2006 Freightliner motorhome, drifted into oncoming traffic. He hit the Mariposa man in his 2006 Subaru. He was pronounced dead at the scene and is still unidentified. A passenger in the Subaru, 69-year-old Bobby Shaw, also of Mariposa, with non-life-threatening injuries. Giantomasso suffered minor injuries. Alcohol was not thought to be a factor but investigations are still underway.
