Man Loses Arm in I5 Car Crash Near Westley — Sep 9, 2017

A 29-year-old man’s arm was cut off and his pregnant passenger was air-lifted to a hospital when the yellow Chevy Aveo they were in lost control on I5 and went off-road and down an embankment and crashed into an orchard. They had been traveling on I5 northbound, close to Howard Road exit when the accident began. Witnesses reported the driver had attempted to pass traffic in the center divider and lost control. It is unclear who was driving but once back on the roadway the vehicle skidded back across all northbound lanes and down a 60-foot embankment. The Aveo flipped several times, burst through a barbed wire fence and landed 150 feet into an almond orchard. The man’s arm was completely severed somewhere in the accident. It is unclear how many months pregnant the woman is.
