I-80 Crash in Oakland Kills Motorcyclist — Oct 20, 2017

Dana Gentry, a 47-year-old resident of Rio Linda, was killed on his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle in a crash with a car on I80 in Oakland Thursday at approximately 1:50 p.m. The incident occurred west of the Powell Street exit where for unknown reasons Gentry hit the rear of a Mazda sedan, causing his motorcycle to go out of control and strike a metal guard rail. He was ejected along the way. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported. The Mazda driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Investigators are still trying to determine if drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident.
