I-8 Crash in Alpine Kills Woman — July 9, 2017

A woman speeding down I-8 collided with a semi-truck in the East County and was thrown in her 1996 BMW into a ditch Sunday morning. It was on the eastbound lanes, east of Tavern Road at approximately 11:00 a.m. when the accident occurred. Emergency crews were on the scene within 17 minutes but determined the driver to be dead and called for the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office who pronounced her dead on the scene. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was a 20-year-old woman from Spring Valley.
