Hit and Run Driver Injures Citrus Heights Skateboarder — Nov 11, 2016

A 16-year-old boy, William Bartush, was hit by a truck or SUV while skateboarding in Citrus Heights. The driver ran from the scene. The boy’s parents have sent out impassioned please to anyone who may have information. He skateboarded along Dewey Drive on his way to a play-off game vs East Union. He was struck behind and thrown into the air. Residents of the street blame speed. The posted limit is 25 but drivers often come through in speeds in excess of 50 mph. Others blame the visibility, saying since the accident occurred at 6:30 p.m., the driver may not have seen young William. He remains hospitalized in ICU with a punctured lung and fractured rib.
