Highway 32 Crash Kills Mans, DUI Suspected — Sep 11, 2017

Two people were injured and one died after a head-on crash on Highway 32 in Butte County. Sixty-eight-year-old Christine Rowe, of Chico was in her Toyota Camry Saturday driving east on Highway 32 near 9:30 p.m. East of Meridian Road near the Mud Creek Bridge, she drifted to the right and knocked into a bridge guardrail. The impact shot the Toyota into the westbound lanes where she smashed head-on into a Dodge Ram pick-up. The Dodge flipped over several times and then came to a stop north of the road. The driver was a 22-year-old from Corning. His injuries were fatal. A passenger in his truck was found to have moderate injury. Ms. Rowe’s Camry stopped in the road, blocking both lanes. The highway had to shut down for several hours.  Rowe was determined to be driving under the influence. She was taken to the hospital for treatment and then to jail for driving under the influence. She will face manslaughter charges.
