Highway 180 Car Accident Kills Reedley Man — August 12, 2017

A 60-year-old Reedley man was driving a 2001 Toyota Tundra on Highway 180 westbound at approximately 1:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, he began to drift off onto the shoulder of the road. He overcorrected when attempting to get back on the road which caused the vehicle to swerve sharply and flip over. There was a front passenger, an 82-year-old Reedley man, who suffered major injury and died on the scene. A backseat passenger, a 78-year-old female from Reedley, suffered minor injury. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver was unhurt. Drugs nor alcohol appears to have played a part in the accident. The driver may be prosecuted for unintentional manslaughter.
