Highway 16 Big Rig Crash Kills One in Fiery Disaster — Oct 1, 2016

Amador County was the scene of a fiery crash between two vehicles on Saturday. A car crossed over the road lines into oncoming traffic into the path of a tractor-trailer carrying hay. It was on Highway 16 close to Latrobe Road just before 10:45 a.m. The two vehicles crashed head-on and burst into flames. The driver of the car died at the scene but the truck driver survived with no injuries. The highway was closed for several hours between Old Sacramento Road and Latrobe.
