High Speed Chase Ends in Fatal Crash — Oct 23, 2017

A suspect in a high-speed chase died in a crash involving several cars in Big Sur Wednesday night. The pursuit began around 5:30 p.m. when police attempted an enforcement stop of an Acura with three occupants travelling south on Highway 1. They reached speeds of over 100 mph as they passed Palo Colorado Road into Big Sur. They hit a ¾ ton truck. The driver was the only occupant. He was severely hurt. An SUV was hit next. The driver was unharmed, but the SUV was badly damaged. One of the suspects died in the crash and the other two received major injuries.
