Gerber Crash Injures Red Bluff Teens — August 15, 2017

Police recovered a stolen vehicle after a one car crash at 8:30 a.m. Saturday near San Benito Avenue and 99 W. At least five children were taken to the hospital for treatment. The 17-year-old driver, a girl from Red Bluff, could face charges of felony DUI and felony hit and run with injury. She had been driving northbound on San Benito Avenue. She approached a sharp curve east of 99W and was too drunk to maintain the vehicle. She ran off the road and hit a concrete block separating the roadway from the railroad crossing arm. The driver and four of the passengers took off on foot after the accident. One teen stayed behind with the car. All occupants of the car were tracked down by police later and taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. All were either 16 or 17 years old. Investigators concluded the vehicle had been stolen from Chico.
