Five Injured, One Dead in Trinity County Bus Crash — Sep 21, 2017

A Weaverville woman, Priya Kaur Sandhu, 22 years-old, died Tuesday when a Trinity Transit bus hit a car on Highway 299. Five other people, three minors, were injured in the crash that occurred at a rest area west of Douglas City at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sandhu was on eastbound Highway 299 when she pulled into the Moon Lee rest area. She made a U-turn and stopped at the stop sign. She pulled out in her 2008 Honda Accord, onto the path of a transit bus carrying seven passengers. The left side of her car was hit. Both of the vehicles went off road into the northern edge and stopped. Her passenger, Baldish Kaur Sandhu, 55, of Weaverville, was severely injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. Sandhu died on the scene.
