Elderly San Raphael Woman Severely Injured Crossing Against Red Light -- Nov 20, 2017

A 74-year-old woman was badly injured, and her dog killed when she attempted to cross the Eastman Avenue intersection on Tamalpais Drive against the red light in Corte Madera. An 84-year-old man in an Audi A4 approached from the west and hit the woman and her dog. He reported that he was driving through on a green light at approximately 6:40 p.m. Saturday when she walked in front of him. Witnesses confirmed she had come from the south side of the street against a red light and stepped into traffic. The dog was killed at the scene, but the woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. A portion of the roadway was closed for several hours after the accident.
