Crash on Highway 101 Kills Woman — Oct 23, 2017

A three-car accident near Camp Roberts has killed a 43-year-old woman from King City early Monday morning. The incident occurred between Camp Roberts and the rest area on Highway 101 southbound when a white Chevy pick-up rear-ended a semi-truck in the right lane. Afterward, a Honda Accord rear-ended the Chevy. A passenger in the Accord, Veronica Fernandez, was killed. The driver, 45-year-old Antonio Fernandez, and passenger, 45-year-old Pedro Martinez, were transported to area hospitals for treatment of major injuries. The driver of the pickup, Michael Lee Chadwick, 45, Bradley, received minor injury. The driver of the big rig, Rafaela Soto, 60, Salinas, was unharmed. The accident closed southbound lanes until about 10 a.m.
