Contra Costa High Speed Chase Ends in Crash and Arrest — Mar 6, 2017

A Contra Costa police chase ended with a 32-year-old man crashing his car and going to jail early Sunday morning. According to police, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday officers in Lafayette on eastbound Highway 24 at Alcalanes Road tried to stop a Honda Civic in the process of a moving violation. The driver first slowed at the roadside but quickly sped up. The officer gave chase as the driver drove onto Highway 680 and then exited on Monument Boulevard. The chase continued onto Contra Costa Boulevard in Pleasant Hill. It was there that the driver hit another vehicle and crashed into a fence. The driver and his passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department. They were taken to the hospital. Investigations revealed the Honda was stolen. Anthony Pearson from Oakland was identified as the driver. Pearson was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. He is charged with suspicion of felony evasion and violation probation. He is being held without bail, according to sheriff's officials.
