Christian Basketball Team Involved in Fiery Bus Crash — Nov 14, 2016

A driver in a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta rear-ended a charter bus full of San Diego Christian College basketball players on their way home from a game against Cal State Bakersfield. The driver of the car was killed after the bus caught fire. The accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. on southbound state Route 71. The Jetta driver, 26-year-old Xujun Lu of Chino Hills, was traveling at a speed of at least 50 mph. Bystanders attempted to save him but were unsuccessful. Two other drivers stopped their vehicles and ran to his car, pulling him out. The bus was able to safely pull over after being hit. Aboard the bus was the trainer, coaches, the driver, and 16 teammates. None were injured.
