Chief Attorney of UC Berkeley Killed in Sonoma County Hit and Run — Aug 29, 2017

Christopher Patti, 59, the chief attorney for UC Berkeley, who also served in UC’s Office of the President, was killed Sunday in a hit-and-run crash as he stood on the side of a road looking at his cell phone in Guerneville. He had been riding his bike when he stopped to check his phone along SR 116.  A black BMW flew off the side of the road and hit him. He flew 100 feet from the road. The car sped away without stopping. California Highway Patrol discovered a license plate on the scene where Patti was pronounced dead. They have named Jonathan Ritter, 28, of Rio Nido/Monte Rio a person of interest in the case.
