Casualty of Tuesday’s I580 Death Identified

The Modesto man who lost his life on March 8th of 2016 on I580 has been identified. 

Fernando Luna, 35-years-old, was killed in a two-car accident at approximately 5:32 a.m. just east of Grant Line Road exit. 

On the day of the accident, 3/8/16, the California Highway Patrol reported the involvement of another truck in the event. Luna, speeding in his 2006 GMC Sierra, rear-ended the other truck and both crossed all four lanes of traffic before rolling down an embankment. 

Luna was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his truck and died from his injuries. The other truck was a 43-year-old man who did not receive any injuries and was not under the effects of any alcohol

It has not yet been determined if drugs or alcohol were a factor for Luna.
