Car Veers Off I5, Kills Man and Injures Woman — August 5, 2017

A man was killed in a crash on I5 in Sacramento at approximately 4 a.m. He was a 25-year-old man from Sacramento. He died when the car he was in, a red 2009 Dodge Caliber, veered off the road, hit a tree and caught fire. The driver of the car was a 21-year-old Citrus Heights woman. She got out of the car after the crash. Her right leg was broken and she was transported to an area hospital. Firefighters put the flames out and found the man dead in the passenger side. It is still unclear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident. Investigations are still underway.
