Car Crash Kills Cyclist — Oct 6, 2017

A man saying he was blinded by the sun hit and killed a female cyclist near Arroyo Grande Friday morning. The man was in a grey Subaru at approximately 7:30 a.m. when he hit the woman who was riding a mountain bike on Corbett Canyon Road. She was hit near Tiffany, east of SR227. The driver said the cyclist was in the middle of the road and he did not see her because the sun was in his eyes. He tried to brake but hit her. She hit his windshield and then bounced onto the road. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. She is thought to be a transient.
