Berkeley Collision Leads to Oakland Arrest, July 31, 2016

A crash into a concrete wall on Berkeley’s University Avenue lead to felony car theft charges for Oakland resident Alonzo Choyce, 31. Choyce was driving a Ford van, 2016 model when he was stopped for a traffic violation on 23rd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Oakland. He immediately ran and officers began a chase. It didn’t last long, however, before police called off the chase due to Choyce’s erratic and reckless driving. He eventually exited at University Avenue freeway and crashed into the concrete wall.

Both Choyce and his passenger, Don Thomas, another Oakland resident. After which, police discovered the car was stolen. Choyce is charged with numerous crimes including evading police, vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools and driving on a suspended license. Thomas, the passenger, was arrested on drug charges and an outstanding warrant.
