For the second time in almost a week there has been a deadly car accident near Esparto.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a 13-year-old Esparto boy, who was out learning to drive with his father, died when he lost control and the vehicle overturned into a ditch.

The 46-year-old father received major injuries in the accident and was taken to Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville. Neither the youth nor his father were identified by the CHP.

According to the CHP, the accident occurred around 8:40 p.m., Friday night on a rural stretch of northbound County Road 89, just north of CR-26, about two miles south of Madison.

Apparently, according to reports, the father and son were in a 2005 Chevy heading north on CR-89 just north of CR-26 at around 55 mph for a driving lesson. The boy behind the wheel while the father was in the passenger seat.
